Operational Modes

R&D

Blue Horizon also conducts R&D activities focused on Passive Sampling of Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) and Heavy Metals using POCIS and DGT technologies, advancing innovative approaches for environmental assessment and water quality research.

Turbidity Monitoring

We continuously monitor turbidity levels during dredging and underwater excavation to ensure compliance with environmental regulations. Using Seapoint turbidimeters and D&A OBS sensors, our systems detect even minimal variations in water quality. Solutions can be deployed as stand-alone stations or integrated with real-time transmission platforms for immediate data access.

Current Monitoring

ADCP current profiling

Understanding marine and port currents is essential for safe and efficient operations. With Nortek Aquadopp instruments and RDI ADCP profilers, we provide both point measurements and full vertical current profiles across the water column. These data are critical for hydrodynamic studies, pollutant dispersion analysis, and the planning of maritime works.

Wave Measurement

Using RDI ADCP systems, we monitor wave height, direction, and period on a continuous basis. This information is vital for coastal engineering, port infrastructure safety, and the management of offshore operations.

Meteorological Monitoring

Our weather stations, equipped with high-precision LUFFT sensors, deliver continuous and reliable measurements of wind speed and direction, atmospheric pressure, humidity, air temperature, solar radiation, and precipitation. Real-time data are available via dedicated platforms, supporting maritime operations and environmental monitoring.

Water Level Monitoring

Water Conductivity & Temperature

Conductivity and temperature monitoring

With Seabird SBE 37 MicroCAT probes, we monitor key physical parameters such as conductivity and temperature, both for short-term assessments and long-term monitoring. These data are essential for environmental studies and the evaluation of natural and human-induced changes in aquatic systems

Chlorophyll Monitoring

Unlike traditional grab sampling, POCIS provides a more accurate representation of contaminant exposure over extended periods, even at low concentrations. This method supports environmental risk assessments, pollution trend analysis, and regulatory compliance studies. Blue Horizon develops and implements customized POCIS deployments tailored to site-specific conditions and research objectives.
